James Darum recollects for us through a creative intelligence that jars our souls. His art depicts the western figure from the Native American to the Cowboy and their unique relationship to their world and the earth. The squaw who has weaved her life into her blanket, the brave who oversees and is a part of the land and the cowboy who has weathered the changing times.

James' paintings are not landscapes but it is there. There is a touch of reality and yet fantasy. The desert and the mountains are etched in quiet dignity in the faces that sometimes hide or gaze away from us. The bold, graphic expressions elicit what should be rather than what is. In visual power and force of statement, the Navajo blanket represents a high point in the history of the Native American. The cowboy's hat has sheltered him from the elements.

Original and giglées are available at Old Pueblo West Gallery in Uptown Sedona. To view James Darum's Online Art Gallery, visit www.JamesDarum.com!
